OneLife NQ (formerly MDSIA) is a local organisation that has been providing services for 40 years in the region. The organisation specialises in providing services to people with a spinal cord injury, and other disabilities.
OneLife's history goes back to February 1978 when a number of people came together as a type of social club for people with spinal injuries. Their conversations lead to the idea of trying to build a complex for the young with severe disability. The name suggested for the complex was Myrtle Caddy Para-villa.
Today, OneLife NQ continues to provide services to individuals at Para-villa, now named Myrtle's Place, and in private homes and in the community. The organisation services the region as far north as Midge Point, South to Illbilbie and West to Eungella.
Individuals who access OneLife services are free and independent to control all aspects of their lives, make their own choices and decisions, and determine their own outcomes. OneLife provides assistance to facilitate these life choices.
